WhatsApp callsNew
Let customers call your WhatsApp number from the chat and have your AI agent answer.
Customers tap the call button in your WhatsApp chat and your agent answers, like a phone call. Customers call you; your number can't call them. Available on plans that include WhatsApp calling.
Turn calling on
Open the Calls section
In Number settings (gear icon on the card), go to Calls and click Off · Set up.
Check the requirements
The dialog checks each requirement with Meta and shows how to fix anything missing.
All of these must pass:
| Check | How to fix it |
|---|---|
| Not in the WhatsApp Business app | Move it off the app. |
| Number registered | Register it. |
| Receive messages set up | See Receive messages. If you set it up yourself, subscribe to calls too. |
| An agent under Answered by | Pick one on the number card. |
| Messaging limit of 2,000 a day or more | Meta raises it after business verification and steady sending. |
| Account not restricted | Check Account quality in WhatsApp Manager. |
| SIP calling off | Turn it off in WhatsApp Manager. |
Turn it on
Click Turn on calling.
The call button can take up to seven days to appear for customers. Until then, a template with a call button or a wa.me link works straight away.
Where calls show up
In the customer's chat in the inbox, and in your call logs with a WhatsApp icon.
Turn calling off
In Calls, click On, then Turn off calling.
If calling stops working
Meta can pause calling when a number's quality rating drops; it resumes when the rating recovers. See calling error codes.
Messages from calls
Let your voice agent send an approved WhatsApp template while it is on a call, with placeholders filled from the conversation, or send one automatically after the call ends.
